Choosing transit as a family When I was young, my grandfather would take me and
my sister on bus rides to the end of the line just for fun! Now I am a parent
making transit work for my family and a transportation policy researcher by profession.
Advocating for new opportunities I walk and ride my bike and am working
with my local neighborhood association, Metro Regional Chamber of Commerce and
others to make sure that Minneapolis serves all residents well.
Walking the walk every day
I love standing up for the opportunity to
travel in "carbon-less" modes-especially when I am prepared with facts and
reasons to tell others why I am making these choices.
Making community a priority I've found great connection among people
who want to drive less, so now I help others connect with people and places
around them through bicycling, walking, and taking transit.
I love the feeling of breezing down the Greenway with my daughter in the Burley, chattering about princesses, stopping at the Global Market, meeting friends as we lock up our bikes to the new racks.
Last February I rode to work as usual. The weather was getting warmer
and the sun was supposed to shine all day, so when I left for work I
skipped a layer or two of winter cloths. My workday ended later than normal and when I looked out it was snowing
and blowing. A check of the temperature and it was definitely going to
be a cold ride home.
