Bicyclists
have the same rights and responsibilities as motorists, and can legally ride on any street
that's not a freeway. But good route planning will make your ride safer.
The first "Bikes May Use Full Lane" signs (in this region) have now been erected on Marshall Ave in St. Paul (between Cretin Ave. and the river). The sign reinforces existing traffic law that allows bicyclists to "take the lane" when it is necessary for their safety.... like going downhill fast! Don't be shy—position your bicycle in the center of the lane and hold your position.
