Project Details
Bicycle boulevards are proposed on 17th Avenue S (between 24th Street and 47th Street) and 12th Avenue S (between 54th Street and 60th Street). Bicycle boulevards improve local, residential streets for bicycling, including features such as traffic calming, safer crossings at busy streets, large bicycle pavement markings, and way finding signs. Bicyclists and motorists share the same lanes. A bicycle boulevard does not use bike lanes, and it does not remove on-street parking.
Lane changes are proposed on Bloomington Avenue S, 54th Street E, and 60th Street E. Bloomington Avenue S. Bike lanes are proposed in both directions on Bloomington Avenue (between 47th and 54th Street) and 54th Street (between Nokomis Parkway and 12th Avenue). Shared lanes are proposed on both sides of 60th Street between 12th Avenue and Bloomington Avenue. On Bloomington Avenue (between 60th and 62nd Street) bike lanes are proposed on the east side of the street and shared lanes are proposed on the west side of the street.
Parking changes are proposed on 54th Street (between Nokomis Parkway and 12th Avenue) and Bloomington Avenue (between 60th and 62nd Streets). Parking removal is proposed on the south side of 54th Street. On Bloomington Avenue, parking removal is proposed on the east side of the street, between 61st and 62nd Streets.
Bike racks will be installed along the project corridor.

July 15, 2010
Public works is collecting feedback on draft plans (pdf) for the corridor. Please provide feedback on which features and intersections should be priorities for this project. Not all features will be constructed. Cost estimates (pdf) for each feature and traffic calming examples (pdf) may help you identify priorities.
Detailed layouts (pdf) will be presented at public meetings in August. In early summer, Public Works staff met with neighborhood organizations and city council members to collect feedback on the draft plans.
