Bike Walk Twin Cities and Transit for Livable Communities heard you loud and clear: You want the opportunity to directly ask maintenance supervisors about their best practices, to hear their recommendations about what works and what doesn't, and to learn about practical ways to extend your maintenance program's reach for pedestrians and cyclists in this era of shrinking budgets and increasing demands.
Join us for breakfast as we host a panel conversation with a group of distinguished maintenance and operations professionals:
• Doug Lauer and Jim Webber, from the University of Minnesota's Facilities Management Division, responsible for maintaining facilities to meet the wintertime needs of more than 50,000 pedestrians and 2,000 cyclists.
• Paul St. Martin and Kevin Nelson, from Saint Paul Public Works. This year the city has piloted several innovative practices for maintenance of pedestrian crossings and on-street bicycle facilities - without incurring any additional cost.
• Mike Schmidt, from the Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board. During Mike's thirty-year tenure, the Park Board went from zero wintertime trail maintenance to today's almost sixty miles of year-round walk-bike trails that serve as a backbone of our region's non-motorized transportation network.
• You! Share your own success stories and lessons learned from your experiences
