This award helps the City of Minneapolis encourage bicycling by increasing the supply, quality, and visibility of bicycle parking facilities, which will help reduce bicycle theft. This will allow the City of Minneapolis to greatly increase its bicycle parking program. Elements of this project are: 50/50 Cost Share Program with local businesses for commercially zoned areas; expansion of the current public bike rack program, which provides 100 percent of the cost of bike racks and installation at public buildings and other public locations; old bike rack replacement; development of a Bicycle Parking Guide and materials for a Bicycling Incentive Program; and experimental applications such as covered bicycle parking and stacked bike lockers.
