It sounds boring, but the key to safety is riding predictably. Which
means following the rules of the road. In most situations, you'll want
to turn, pass, and change lanes just as you would in your car.
Advocating for new opportunities I walk and ride my bike and am working
with my local neighborhood association, Metro Regional Chamber of Commerce and
others to make sure that Minneapolis serves all residents well.
The first "Bikes May Use Full Lane" signs (in this region) have now been erected on Marshall Ave in St. Paul (between Cretin Ave. and the river). The sign reinforces existing traffic law that allows bicyclists to "take the lane" when it is necessary for their safety.... like going downhill fast! Don't be shy—position your bicycle in the center of the lane and hold your position.
